VULKAN India welcomes students from the region

On Thursday, January 04, 2024, around 120 students from grades 7 and 8 from two nearby schools visited the VULKAN India factory premises in Pune. This behind-the-scenes look was organized in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Pune West and aimed to give children an insight into a manufacturing company and encourage them to pursue higher studies.

The assumption of social responsibility is an integral part of VULKAN’s corporate philosophy. For example, over the past ten years, VULKAN India has carried out various projects that are in line with this philosophy as part of its own Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. As part of such a project, the subsidiary of the VULKAN Group has supported more than 30 local schools in promoting education, special education and the development of vocational skills for the socially disadvantaged populations, either directly or through CSR partners such as the Rotary Club.

It was against this background that the visit of the students, who were accompanied by teachers and volunteers from the Rotary Club, took place. Upon arrival, the children were first informed about VULKAN and the important safety precautions to be observed during a factory visit. Divided into two groups led by Kundan Shivade and Kalpesh Gupta, they then explored the site, including the foundry, vulcanization, machine shop and quality control. Along the way, the students learned a lot of interesting facts about the different departments of the VULKAN plant in order to understand the design and manufacturing process on site.

The students, teachers and Rotary team welcomed the initiative of the VULKAN management and praised the detailed planning of the CSR/Admin department, which had ensured a well-organized, smooth and informative company visit. “The feedback from the teachers reflected that the students gained interesting insights into the manufacturing industry and various career opportunities,” says Rajesh Mishra, Managing Director of VULKAN India. “Experiences like these can help produce future engineers, technocrats and industry leaders. We at VULKAN India are proud to be able to contribute to this journey!”
