Team spirit, health promotion and joint sporting activities are very important at VULKAN India: The company recently invited the workforce to a cricket and a table tennis tournament on the company premises.
The first cricket tournament took place from February, 26 to March 12, 2025 at the multi-purpose sports facility on the company premises in Pune, which was only opened in November. More than 170 players in 14 teams, divided into employees and production workers, competed against each other. Not only was the playing field new at this tournament, but there were also new, dynamic rules that were tailored to this form of cricket and brought additional speed and excitement to the games. These included a limited overs format, restrictions on underarm bowling and bonus runs for hitting certain target zones on the walls. The compact pitch also required sharp reflexes, strategic shots and fast fielding, adding an extra challenge for the players and even more excitement for spectators alike.
After a series of exciting matches, Prashant Patel’s team won the final, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and skill. In the blue-collar category, Ashok Khanekar’s team took the title.
The award ceremony was conducted by Managing Director Rajesh Mishra, who praised the participants for their enthusiasm and competitive spirit. He encouraged those present to participate even more in future editions and expressed the company’s commitment to a healthy and active workplace culture. “Sport brings people together and this tournament is just the beginning. We look forward to seeing even more teams and players next time,” he said.
First Table Tennis Tournament
VULKAN India added another exciting chapter to its sports initiatives with the successful completion of the first table tennis tournament in January 2025. The event was well received with thirty participants competing in both the white-collar and blue-collar categories, making the tournament an exciting and highly competitive event.
The matches were characterized by energetic rallies, fast strokes and tactical moves that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats. Charudatta Kulkarni secured the championship title in the employee category. Prashant Patel played his heart out to take second place. In the blue-collar category, Akash Marathe showed exceptional technique and won, while Pravin Kate took a well-deserved second place.
Managing Director Rajesh Mishra took over the award ceremony here as well and praised the participants for their enthusiasm and determination. He emphasized that table tennis, like any other sport, requires focus, agility, and perseverance – qualities that translate well into professional and personal growth. He also encouraged employees to take advantage of such opportunities to stay active and engaged.
Further edition planned
The success of the tournament has paved the way for more sporting events of this kind at the Indian VULKAN subsidiary and strengthened the culture of teamwork and leisure activities within the company. “The enthusiasm of the participants has prompted us to make table tennis an integral part of our sports initiatives,” said Rajesh Mishra at the end of the tournament day. “We look forward to more exciting competitions of this kind.”
